What is A Course in Miracles?

It is a Path of Spiritual Development. The Course takes the form of an educational program consisting of a Text, a Workbook for Students, and a Manual for Teachers.
Further material consists of the supplements; Psychotherapy -Purpose, Process and Practice, The Song of Prayer and The Gifts of God. The aim of the Course is to re-educate our perception of reality and teach us to extend this new perception to others, so that we can both extend happiness and inner peace and therefore find happiness and inner peace ourselves. |

Introduction from the Text of 'A Course in Miracles'
1. This is a course in miracles. ²It is a required course. ³Only the time you take it is voluntary. ⁴Free will does not mean that you can establish the curriculum. ⁵It means only that you can elect what you want to take at a given time. ⁶The course does not aim at teaching the meaning of love, for that is beyond what can be taught. ⁷It does aim, however, at removing the blocks to the awareness of love’s presence, which is your natural inheritance. ⁸The opposite of love is fear, but what is all-encompassing can have no opposite.
2. This course can therefore be summed up very simply in this way:
²Nothing real can be threatened.
³Nothing unreal exists.
⁴Herein lies the peace of God.

What is Healing?
According to the Course sickness is entirely of the mind. It is a product of the belief in being separate, sinful, and guilty. This belief, however, is false, which is why healing, which comes from God, has power to heal all illnesses with equal ease.
You heal by overlooking someone’s illusions and recognising their true identity. The patient is sick because they have denied the truth about themselves. By seeing this truth for them, you hold out to them another choice, in which your perception of them can become their self-perception
A healer’s function is to see anyone truly, to see the Son of God in them, to see their inherent worth, perfection, wholeness and holiness. Our view of them then transfers to their mind, offering them a new, healed view of themselves.
What is a Miracle?
According to the Course a miracle is an expression of love, kindness and helpfulness, a divine healing of human perception, in which the normal “laws” of egoic thinking (based on guilt, fear, sickness and death) are momentarily suspended.
This is carried out by the Holy Spirit, Who shifts our perception from false to true and thereby grants us unconditional, instantaneous, and free deliverance from the imprisoning (yet illusory) problems of this world, regardless of their seeming size or gravity (see no order of difficulty in miracles).
Contrary to our thinking, miracles are truly natural. They are the opposite of magic, where we try to use an unnatural power (something apart from God’s Will) to save us by rearranging illusions (rather than awakening the mind to truth). Miracles are the means for achieving the goal of the Course.
What is the Holy Spirit?
According to the Course, the Holy Spirit is our internal Teacher, the communication link between God and His separated Sons, the bridge between knowledge and perception, inside every sleeping mind as the call to awaken. He is within our right mind, and is completely aware of both reality and illusions.

My Course Journey
My journey with the A Course in Miracles began in 1994. I have studied and taught the Course both in english and German and have mentored Course students and held study groups and workshops in Australia and Germany. I found that the Course offers a complete and practical path. It is not just a set of ideas to understand and somehow apply, it offers an educational program that guides us in understanding, practicing and fully internalising its transformational ideas. Over the years I have studied the extraordinary wisdom of the Course using the widely known blue book from the publisher of the FIP edition of A Course in Miracles, the Foundation for Inner Peace. I am now using the purple book from the publisher of the CE edition of A Course in Miracles, the Circle of Atonement. The purple book has included more of the original handwritten notes from Helen Schucman, the scribe of the Course. Through my own studies for over 31 years I feel that the wisdom of the Course is the expression of a higher level of intelligence, and because it so profound and beautiful, it has earned my trust. Also rather than taking the course's wisdom seriously because of its authorship claim I take its authorship seriously because of its wisdom. For me the Course offers a real solution to the many problems we have always faced and we're facing in the world today. It offers a genuine path to spiritual awakening.
